Livebearers
Livebearers are fish that give birth to live young. Most of them are very common and easy to spawn, but there are a few exeptions.
The "Big Four", guppies, mollies, platys, and swordtails
These are by far the most common and easy to keep livebearers. They are so easy to breed, pretty much all you have to do is put a boy and a girl together. They like warm, neutral to slightly alkaline water. The 2 inch guppy has been a hugely popular fish for ages. Mollies are the hardest of the Big Four to keep because they need a small amount of salt in their water and can get somewhat large. There are 2 different species, the 4 in. molly and the 6 in. sailfin molly. Swordtails are popular and can get 5 inches including the male's sword. Platies or moons only get 2.5 inches long. There is a dwarf form available.
Halfbeaks
These fish are very rare and rather hard to keep. It likes hard, alkaline water that is somewhat warm. The Celebes Halfbeak only gets about 3 in. long. Wrestling Halfbeaks are only 1.5 in. long, they are often forced to fight each other in China.
Goodieds
These fish are another rare group of Livebearers. They like water similar to the Half Beaks'. The Rainbow or Butterfly Goodied is only 2 in. long. The orange tailed goodied gets the same size as the butterfly goodied.
